Mike Mangold wins Red Bull air race with what else, but a Performance Engine Aerobatics ace Mike Mangold owned the sky over San Francisco last Saturday with his Performance-built IO 540. The former Air Force fighter pilot not only won the day, but also became the overall Red Bull Air Race World Series 2005 champion. Mangold bested nine of the world's top aerobatic pilots, including fellow American Kirby Chambliss, who came in second, and Hungarian Peter Besenyei, who placed third in the San Francisco race. The race took place during the annual Fleet Week celebration. |
